My Cricut Craft Room Design Team Post - Mother's Day Cards

I enjoyed using the Cricut Craft Room Exclusive - "Mother's Day 19" to make this pretty card. I cut the card at 4" directly from Cricut Craft Room.  I added some bling and mulberry paper flowers from my stash along with some Studio G glitter.

Generally I use my Gypsy to design projects, but this cut didn't want to upload to my Gypsy for some reason.  One thing I really love about Cricut Craft Room is the function to put in the type of paper you are using and it will tell you exactly what settings are best to come out with the perfect cut.  CCR also controls the spead that your Cricut cuts, so it did go much slower on this intricate cut than my Gypsy would have.  That was a good thing because the cut came out much better.  I also enjoy going through Cricut's digital content at www.cricut.com to see what new single images they have that are CCR exclusives.  It's a cheaper way to get new content when you can't aford to go out and buy a new cartridge right away.

Ya It's ANOTHER Pin Cushion

Playing Doctor

Meghan and I love the Disney Junior show "Doc McStuffins." I made her a play doctor kit so we could treat her stuffed toys. Using real bandaids on stuffed toys is a pain because they are hard to get off. As a fun alternative, I cut out bandaids from fun foam. I ran the fun foam through my Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder. I used a Copic marker to draw squares on the bandaids. I had scraps of red and pink vinyl that I punched hearts out of to stick on the bandaids.

CardzTV Challenge - use buttons

I used the Forever Young cartridge to make this chic book mark for the CardzTV challenge. I used one of my fabric buttons as an embellishment on it. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs. I think I'll make some more of these book marks for some friends at work.

Good News For Gypsy Users

I was excited to learn that Provocraft finally set it up where you can link your Gypsy cartridges to the online Cricut Craft Room. This has been a long time coming. I made sure to update my versions of Cricut Craft Room and Cricut Sync before updating my Gypsy. I am happy to announce that all of my cartridge content is now in both Cricut Craft Room and my Gypsy. I have to admit that this update kind of freaked me out because I really didn't want anything bad to happen to my Gypsy. I did get a $20 credit to use on digital content from Cricut.com just for updating my Gypsy though. I am really glad that I did it. Now if anything horrible ever did happen to my Gyspy, God forbid, then all of my cartridge content is still on Cricut Craft Room.

Paper Playtime Challenge

This is the first side step card that I've ever made. The Paper Playtime Challenge for this week was to do a different type of folded card. I'm glad that I got to step out of my comfort zone a little bit.

The sentiment comes from Mary at CardzTV.

I used the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge for the fence and the Freshly Picked cartridge for the garden gnome. I used my grass punch, circle punch and scallop circle punch.

Vinyl Wall Decor - My Cricut Craft Room Design Team Post

Hello Cricut Chirp followers!  I'm excited to announce that I am now on the design team for the My Cricut Craft Room blog.  I'm so excited to share my love of Cricut crafts with all of you!  If you are a first time visitor, make sure to click the follow link on the top of this page to stay up to date on all of my inspiring crafts.

For today's project, I made two different vinyl wall decor cuts for my 3 year old daughter's princess themed room.  I used Cricut brand lavender vinyl from my stash.  I used the Wall Decor and More and Princess Party cartridges.  Both images were cut at 5" with a blade depth of 4 and 3 on both speed and pressure.  I used a multi cut of 2 as well.

I ran out of Cricut brand transfer tape, so I used my Glad Press n' Seal to transfer my vinyl to the wall.  First I removed the excess vinyl.  If you can't do it with your fingers you can use an exacto knife to remove the smaller bits inside the letters.

Once all of the excess vinyl is removed (as seen above) place a piece of either Cricut transfer tape, or the Glad Press n' Seal over your die cut image (as seen below).

You can use either a Popsicle stick, a credit card, or your Cricut mat scraper to go over the letter to ensure that they stick to your transfer tape.  Carefully go over each individual letter.  Starting at one one corner start to peal back your white backing leaving the vinyl only on the tape.  You can wipe your surface down with some alcohol wipes before hand to ensure there is no dust there that would prevent the vinyl from sticking.  Make sure the surface is clean and dry before attempting to adhere the vinyl.  Below is a picture of the Press n' Seal as it was lined up on the wall.

Now you'll want to carefully go over each letter again with the same tool that you used above (Popsicle stick, credit card etc.) to ensure the vinyl adheres to the wall.  Next, carefully pull off the transfer material starting and one corer and going across slowly to make sure each letter is attatched.  At this point I go over the letters again and rub them against the wall to make doubly sure that they are secured well.  I find some brands of vinyl are much stickier than others, so it's good to go over your vinyl again.

I hope you enjoyed learned a little more about how I love to use vinyl.  I hope you give it a try if you haven't yet.

Tea Cup Pin Cushion

After the week I've had I was in some serious need of some craft therapy. We got home late from the wedding rehearsal and dinner for my brother in law's wedding, but I still managed to get this sweet tea cup pin cushion done. I saw a number of people do these on YouTube for craft swaps and I thought they would make excellent mother's day gifts. This one is for me though. I plan to also glue a strand of pearls onto the plate as soon as I figure out where Meghan hid them. The plate is glued to the cup with E6000 and hot glue. I glued the pin cushion inside with just the E6000. I love my new pin cushion SO much! I'm going to put it up on a shelf in my craft room.

Exhausting week

This has been an emotionally and physically exhausting week. Had a stomach bug. Got things ready for my brother in law's wedding. Then yesterday one of my favorite cousins passed away from a heart attack very unexpectedly. She was 41, just 10 years older than me. I always looked up to her when we would take the long drives to Minnesota to visit. I won't be able to make the drive there from Ohio for the funeral though I'd like to. At least my mom and dad will get to be there. Praying happier times are coming our way soon.

Pain in the @## project

I am so glad I am done with these vases. My future sis in law wanted these for their wedding table this weekend. Guess they are putting their flowers in them. I made one for my brother in law for Christmas. The fruits of the spirit are on them with vinyl, which I know is hard to tell from the picture. I was having a heck of a time with my vinyl cutting right. Thinking that I need to replace my blade, but I FINALLY got them done. I used Birthday Bash.....and quite a few more cartridges. Normally I am much better at remembering which ones. I'm just happy I didn't throw the darn things against the wall and bust them. The humid weather today also made vinyl application a bad idea. :::sigh::::

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge

The challenge this week on the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog was to use the color yellow and a triangle. I needed to make a Harvest For Hunger collection container for work. I cut the barn using the County Fair Cricut cartridge. I used punches for everything but the letters which were cut using the Birthday Bash cartridge.

So I used yellow on my sunshine and there are triangles on my barn door. The container is an empty oatmeal holder.

CardzTV Crafty Cards Challenge

The challenge was to use one of your favorite quotes on a card. I used a quote from Cinderella, "Even miracles take a little time." I used the K Andrew Designs "Of Mice and Little Men" stamp set for the sentiment on the cloud. This Disney Princess cartridge is one of the only digital cartridges that I purchased from Cricut.com as it is so difficult to find now.

Office decor project

I went back to work Monday after an extended medical leave. After organizing my desk I realized that I really needed something functional and cute to keep my tacks in for my cubicle walls. I used a baby food jar and added a cute pin cushion top. I glued some mulberry paper roses on that I found on ebay. The coffee cup stamp is from Mary at CardzTV. I filled the jar with clear pins for my cubicle and stuck a couple of my decorative stick pins in the pins cushion.
